Rental Policies & FAQ

One person’s perfect day on the water may be too hot or too cold for the next person. As a boat rental company, last-minute cancellations can be very costly. We ask that you carefully read and understand the following policies before you take out a boat for rent. These policies were made to help ensure your safety and to help make your rental experiences fun and easy. We hope you enjoy your day on beautiful Lake Wissota!

All boats are paid in full upon reservation. Please check with your group and have your dates confirmed prior to booking your reservation to avoid unnecessary charges.

  • 60 days prior to your reservation you may cancel and receive a full refund less the $100 non-refundable deposit.
  • 15-59 days prior to your reservation you may reschedule within 30 days, but no refund.
  • 0 – 14 days prior to your reservation you may not reschedule or refund and will result in a forfeiture of all rent due.
  • No shows are subject to the full rental cost.

Severe Weather?

Cancellations made by WWR due to severe weather will have 30 days to rebook within the current season and use your rental.  If the weather event happens October 1st or later, you may carry over the reservation until spring of the following year.  These must be booked and used by June 15 of the year following the original rental date.

The boat will be in the water, uncovered, gassed up and ready for you to go boating!

Logistics:

  • Parking is located at the public boat landing.  It is a short walk to the dock but some people prefer to drive to the dock area and empty the car before they park. If it’s a busy day at the boat landing, driving up will not be ideal.
  • A busy boat landing means waiting at times, either to get on or off a boat. People exiting the boats or docks have the right of way.

Check-In Process:

  • Please be on time for your reservation. If something comes up, let us know as soon as you know.  It is likely that we have other rentals that day and will need to make adjustments accordingly.
  • Staff will be able to answer your boating questions - how to operate, all the functions/how to’s of the boat, stereo/Bluetooth, fish finder/GPS info, fuel and more!
  • The Rental Agreement will be reviewed, driver info/driver’s licenses and boater’s safety certificates (if applicable) will be checked.
  • If you are keeping the boat overnight, docking instructions will be discussed.

Returning The Boat:

  • Boats need to be returned on a full tank of gas.  There is a gas pump located at 1917 Restaurant on Lake Wissota.  We are able to check out pontoons at this location or the public boat landing.
  • If the boat is returned 15 minutes to one hour late, there is a $50.00 fee. If you return your boat an hour or later, there is a half day rental charge.
  • A staff member from WWR will check over the boat upon your return.

We will give you the boat with a full tank and ask that you return it with a full tank of gas.  All gas must be ethanol free.

There is a gas pump located at the 1917 Restaurant on Lake Wissota.  We are happy to meet you at the gas pump for check out.

 Adult Life Jackets:

  • There are enough adult life jackets on board for the rated capacity of every boat. These are stored in the boat, within the seats or other storage compartments.
  • We carry the U.S. Coast Guard Approved Type ll Adult Life Jackets.
  • Fits adults 90 lbs. and over (30"-52" chest). Designed as a one size fits all adult flotation device with one buckle donning with adjustable strap. Simple and straightforward to cover vessel requirements.
  • The life jackets that are provided in the boats are not appropriate for wearing while being towed behind a boat for tubing, skiing, etc.

Children’s Life Jackets:

  • WWR requests that renters bring their own child size life jackets.
  • We have a limited amount of performance and infant/ child life vests available to rent.  They are available on a first come, first served basis.  Rate is $10/day.

Please visit the DNR Boater's Handbook for information about state regulations, laws & licensing.
